Types of content in a course

28.07.2023

This help page is for learners

The course content pages may have one or more column of different blocks with different content types. A course content page may include, for example:

  • text
  • links
  • images
  • videos
  • files

There may be assignments in the course area that are voluntary or mandatory. These assignments usually belong to the following content types:

  • Follow-up assignment (will be marked as completed depending on the settings)
  • returnbox assignment as an individual or group assignment (as return file/s and/or text written with a text editor)
  • test (multiple choice, open-ended question)
  • form
  • discussion
  • image carousel
  • SCORM assignment

Text blocks may also contain links. Regarding links, please note that, depending on the settings chosen by the content producer, they may open either in the same window or in a new window. If the link opens in the same window, you can return with your browser’s Back button.

Tip: In a course, content blocks can be mandatory, even if they don’t necessarily have an assignment to return. For example, a video block can be mandatory, in which case it must be acknowledged as completed/watched.

Example: Mark as completed button below a video block
For example, watching a video block may be a mandatory assignment, in which case it is marked with the Mark as complete button.
