Principles of completing the learning path
Completion of the learning path is considered to have started when the learner has opened the starting course, i.e. done something there. After this, the learner’s learning path is in the In-progress mode.
In the learning path, you can very versatile determine which courses must be completed before you can progress to the next course and further along the path.
The learning path identifies an approved result and a graded result. Unfortunately, the learning path cannot take advantage of the features of the courses, which are related to the expiry date of the course completion or the fact that the course completion can be allowed to be done several times. For these, you should use the individual courses’ own settings and/or dynamic groups.
When a learner starts a learning pathway, they must complete all the courses required of them on the pathway in order to complete the pathway. If the learner has previously completed the courses set out in the pathway, they will appear as completed. The pathway does not take a position on whether the course completion is valid or possibly overdue, the course will show as completed in both cases.
To be taken into account when modifying the learning path
If you make changes to the ready-made learning path, you should keep the structure the same. If structural changes are needed for the learning path, we recommend making a new learning path with a new structure.
If you change the starting course to another one, all members of the learning path automatically get membership to the new starting course.
When the existing learning path is modified, the statuses of the learning path execution for learners do not change:
- If the learner has a course in progress, it is also in progress after editing.
- If the learner has completed the course, it is completed even after editing.
Courses to which they have a direct membership (set in the course settings) or to which they have access via the learning path appear on the dashboard for learners.
If new courses are added or changed to the path, the learner will be shown the first of the courses that are set on the path and have yet to be completed. After completing it, the course set next after the course will be displayed. If it has already been completed, the next one will follow.
Editing the learning path does not affect course memberships already obtained. If the learner has gained access to the course as a result of the rule of the previous learning path, the learer will continue to be able to access that course, even if the new learning path no longer specifies so.
Tip: Members can be separately removed from the decommissioned course in this case.
The path endpoint course setting on the path can be deleted. Existing path completions are preserved. In this way, if necessary, the existing path can be modified to be longer: courses can be added and finally the actual final course can be selected (the same or a different course than was previously selected). Those who have already completed the path do not lose the completion of the path.
