Priima provides the instructor with easy and fast-to-use tools for content production. It is however good to keep some basic points in mind when designing an e-learning process.
The objective: What is the aim of the course/learning module? A main objective and sub-objectives are possible – for example, each section of the course or content page can have its own learning goal.
Target group: Who are the target group for the course? What is important to consider regarding the target group in the content and implementation of the course?
Operating method or concept: How does the course work and progress? How do students work on the course? What do you want students to do and how? What is the role of the instructor?
Criteria for completing the course: How does learning proceed? How is learning monitored? How do students demonstrate their competence? What is done and how? How is competence verified and reviewed? How will the achievement of the objectives be assessed?
The process of producing an online course should done in phases, as you would for a project. Here is type of phase structure to support your work:
Planning and preparation
- Choosing an operating model: How does the course progress? What kind of course structure supports progress?
- Competence goals and learning path: What kind of learning units are built based on the goals? Is the path built into the course or as a learning path with the help of different courses?
- Design/selection of materials and tasks
Building course content in Priima
- Materials and tasks: What does the learner do, read, see, experience? What kind of content blocks are needed? How are the contents arranged?
- Completion settings and testing: What and how does a learner’s completion form? We always recommend testing with a test learner account!
- Finalizing and publishing the course
Implementation of the course
- Monitoring the completions
- Analysing feedback
Evaluation and feedback after the course and further development
